CitySavings, the thrift arm of Union Bank of the Philippines, wraps up its year with a strong commitment to sustainability through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts. These include Coastal Clean-up drives and Tree Planting programs, aiming to safeguard coastal environments and combat climate change.

In support of environmental conservation, CitySavings actively engaged in the International Coastal Clean-Up (ICC) organized by Ocean Conservancy last year. Their efforts led to the removal of nearly 50 kg of debris from Lemery, Batangas, and Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur. The clean-ups specifically targeted Lemery’s thriving fishing grounds and the Dumanquillas Bay Protected Landscape and Seascape (DBPLS) in Pagadian City, preserving these precious ecosystems.

These coastal initiatives fostered collaboration among employees, volunteers, and local communities, demonstrating CitySavings’ unwavering commitment to sustainability for preserving nature’s beauty and long-term well-being.

Aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as SDG 14: Life Below Water and SDG 15: Life on Land, these initiatives combat marine and land-based pollution. Project SustainabiliTree further supports SDG 13: Climate Action and SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities by fostering carbon sequestration and fostering greener urban spaces for sustainable cities.
